Modular buildings are constructed to follow the local and state regulations. Additionally there are other codes that have been made available to local and state agencies so there is some consistency in the construction industry. IBC (international building code) is a set of standards for life safety and construction codes that standardize construction methods. There are many agencies that will exceed or overwrite certain aspects of the IBC code, but most agencies have adopted the IBC building codes.
Check with your
local and state agency to see what their codes are for modular construction to make sure that you are getting a building that will comply or exceed the minimum requirements. There are many used buildings in the marketplace that are grandfathered in, but many of the local agencies have laws written that prohibit the use of older modular buildings not constructed to the IBC codes.
